Around the time of the signing of the Treaty of Waitangi, the missionaries struggled to fully accept Māori because their culture didn’t align with the strict rules of the Mosaic Law – especially the Ten Commandments. If the missionaries had truly understood the finished work of Jesus Christ and the teachings of the New Covenant, they would have ministered God’s Grace and His faithfulness to the Māori culture instead of judging and condemning it.
This book explains that the real issue wasn’t the missionaries or the government, but a spiritual system of law and control. Ultimately, true salvation does not come through rules, treaties, or religious authority – but through Jesus Christ alone. This book is a powerful call for Māori to rise up under the New Covenant, which offers total forgiveness of all sins – past, present, and future – and freedom from the religious Law. God is awakening His prophetic Māori people to walk in love, grace, and spiritual freedom, free from the spiritual constraints of legalism and control, bringing true transformation to Aotearoa.
Tiaki’s life-defining moments included becoming a son of God in 1986 at the Papakura Māori Evangelical church, changing his Pākehā name to Tiaki in 1996, beginning his Te Reo Māori journey the same year and in 2012 receiving a powerful revelation of the Finished Work of Christ under the New Covenant. At this supernatural encounter, he instantly knew for the first time that all his past, present, and future sins were forgiven and that as a Christian he was free completely from the obligations of the Ten Commandments of the Mosaic Law. Significantly, his view of his Māori culture changed from one of condemnation and shame to one of beauty. Ultimately, this encounter was the catalyst for the writing of this book.
