The intriguing story of a 130m-tall Kiwi, carved into a hill in southern England by New Zealand troops waiting to go home at the end of the World War One. Little known story from after WW1, when NZ troops waited months in Sling Camp in southern England after the war ended to get a ship home. Rioting in the camp led to plans to keep troops busy by cutting a giant Kiwi into the chalk hill behind the camp.

The Bulford Kiwi has become a monument built by soldiers, not governments, for themselves and their mates. Tne 2017 the Bulford Kiwi was made a protected heritage site by UK government.
