The Demolition of ‘Old’ New Zealand, gives an in-depth analysis of what happened when New Zealand society was turned upside down by economic reforms in the 1980s, and how in many ways a new society was created with the consequences still acutely felt today.
It is a detailed look at the 1980s leading up to the 1984 general election and what happened after it through to the early 1990s. This was the time when, first Rogernomics, then Ruthanasia, brought considerable change to the country.

Christopher Tobin, a reporter in those years and still a reporter today, wanted to learn more about the period, which motivated him to write this book.
